Syndee's Get Well Wishes

Last week my poor niece fell down a ravine and broke her leg in 5 places (3 complete breaks and 2 fractures). She had to have surgery and pins in her ankle, you can see the bulge in the cast around her ankle, where the pins are. She's OK, but is on bed rest for a few weeks and then in a wheel chair. It's going to be quite some time before she's able to even be on crutches. As you can see, her cast covers her entire leg. My brother said that their community and everyone at her school has sent her get well cards and I thought she might like something to keep them in.

Doesn't she look pitiful? Oh and tomorrow is her 10th birthday.
Here's the Close to my Heart Memory Keeper box I made her for her get well wishes. Unfortunately I didn't have any purple and pink paper (her favorite colors). I hope she likes it anyway!

Project 365 week 4

Here's my Project 365 for last week. As most of you know, I can't keep a secret. I was having a pretty bad day (heck, bad week) last week and needed something "good" to happen. So, I showed hubby the book and well, his reaction was WAY better than I could have ever hoped for. He thought it was the greatest thing ever! Seriously, I think that if I had waited until Christmas to give it to him, he would have cried. (It's a good thing he doesn't read my blog because he'd be pretty PO'd that I said that.) And, it's really nice not to have to quickly get some of those pictures off the camera. Yeah, try explaining the picture of the UPS guy! he he he.
Anyway, here's the layout for this week.

As usual, here are the links to the other's that are playing.

Project 365 week 3

Ohhhh, that's how I feel today. I'm so overwhelmed. My house is a wreck, laundry is piled up all over the place, I've got a ton of work to do, orders to enter into the system and I'm not inspired to do anything but sit and watch TV. I haven't posted in days, there's goes that goal! Thursday I was running errands most of the day and then had to work that night, Friday I had to work late, we had an event. It went fabulously, yeah!!!! Saturday and Sunday I had club meetings and was gone both days. Basically, I haven't been home in 4 days and boy does my house reflect that!
But, on a good note, I'm still going strong with Project 365 AND my husband still doesn't know about it. Here's my week 3 page. There's no Saturday picture because Kim took it and hasn't emailed it to me yet. I did journal about the picture though.

Here's the whole thing.

Here's the left side. Picture 3 says "lift me" because there's another picture underneath.

Here's the right side. There's no picture from Saturday because I don't have it yet.

As usual, I'll post links to other participants when they're completed

Warm and Cozy

I bet you thought I wasn't going to make my goal of a post a day. Honestly, I didn't think I would either. The last 2 days, I've been uninspired to do anything. Typically my day begins around 4:15 am, when my husband gets up for work. I get up when he does and enjoy the blissful silence of children sleeping. They normally get up around 6:30 or 7:00, so those few hours are precious time that I take for myself. I try and do some scrapping or card making during that time. On the rare occasion when I have "real" work to do, I may do it then, but I never do housework!

Anyway, on to the layout. This is another Inspired Blueprint sketch (#6). I've had all the stuff I wanted to use for this layout in a bag for a month or so but hadn't gotten around to doing it yet. What I try and do is when I get my pictures printed, I make up little "kits" with the papers and embellishment, and inspiration if I have any. That way, I can just grab a bag and go when I'm in the mood. I don't have to waste my time trying to figure out what I need. I digress, back to the layout. Back in November 2008, we were hanging out in the living room and Bailey was content to lay on the floor next to the couch. For some crazy reason, Leo decided that she needed a pillow and blankets. And Bailey loves pillows and blankets so she was happy as a clam to lay there and let Leo get her all snugly warm and cozy. Unfortunately, I was having so much fun watching him "fuss" over her, I completely forgot to take pictures of that. Luckily, she was perfectly happy to lay there for most of the evening so I could at least get some pictures of her.
Supplies used: CTMH Perfect Day Level 2, Dimensional Alphabets, Prisma flowers and some sparkly thingies that I don't remember where I got them from.

I Leo!

Leo's such a silly boy. You can't call him by a pet name, he get's very indignant and let's you know, his name is Leo. Anyway, I took this picture of him on Christmas morning and it just shows his personality. I had been wanting to scrap how he says "I Leo" and thought this would be the perfect picture to use. This is a Page Maps sketch.

All supplies CTMH (except sticker alphabet): Blue Ribbon Level 2, Cranberry Gossgrain ribbon, dimensional elements book plates, craft buttons, white daisy brads, Friendship small alphabet stamp for date.

Edited to note that I can see into the future! Oops, I guess I'm used to writing 2009 now.

No Wonder

I have no idea why I used these pictures with this paper. Maybe because I had just gotten it and was desperate to use it and these were the pictures I had handy. My lovely oldest child doesn't like to sleep in his bed and contrary to this layout it has nothing to do with Bailey sleeping with him, hogging his bed.

Mini Me

I just love this picture of Martel and Leo, yes, that's Leo. It's an old picture that I'm just getting around to scrapping. Oh, I've done the "event" but wanted this one for my personal favorites album that I'm doing. Thankfully, I started scrapping a month before Leo was born, so as far as my kids go, I'm caught up. And, thanks to having 3 different clubs, I do around 6 layouts a month and am actually running out of pictures to scrap. I know there are quite a few of you out there rolling your eyes at my dilemma. he he he.
Since I did this layout yesterday, I actually know the products I used. Everything is CTMH except the base page (My Mind's Eye) and the Chipboard alphabet (Scenic Route). I also used a sketch from my new Page Maps book.

Project 365 week 2

Have you been taking your daily pictures???? I know it's tough. I've almost forgotten a few times and it's only Jan 10th! But, I'll just take a picture of something crazy and be good.
Here's my layout for week 2.

This is what the journaling says:
1. We’re this crazy family of cereal eaters. Today, Martel and the boys had 5 different types of cereal out, just for the 3 of them. The best part about it is they were all healthy cereals. My boys are a bit different than most 3 and 19 month olds. They LOVE Kashi shredded wheat. 1/4/09

2. Today was Leo’s official first day of preschool. We had a few issues, he wanted to take his camera, but I was the mean mommy and said No. After a whole lot of crying, I at least let it in the truck so it went with us. 1/5/09
3. My great-grandmother, Eva (who I’m named after) had this Lord’s Prayer hanging in her kitchen during my childhood. Martel in an atypical show of good will actually put a nail in the cabinet and hung it next to the kitchen window for me. Sometimes he can be so sweet and thoughtful! 1/6/09

4. I’ve been trying to adapt to Martel’s schedule. That means getting up around 4:00 am and starting my day. Most of the time, it’s OK. I do really enjoy the quiet mornings to myself and he loves that I make him coffee and kiss him goodbye in the morning. But, I definitely couldn’t do it without Joe! 1/7/09
5. Leo had his first homework assignment from preschool. Daddy said that he’d help him with his homework after dinner. I don’t know who was more excited about it, Leo or Martel. Martel has been waiting for this moment for years. Aaron had to get in on the action too. 1/8/09

6. I “slept in” this morning until 4:45 am. When I went to let Bailey out, this is what I saw. The moon was almost full and the fog was over the golf course. Amazing! Yeah, this is why I get up so early. 1/9/09

7. Leo got a new car seat today. You want to know why? Because Martel took his car seat today. It’s Saturday and Martel had to go to Orange County and so the boys and I had to get the produce basket. All would be fine except that we had been using the truck lately so the car seats were in the truck. I reminded him to get the car seat out for me, but I guess he forgot. I had to go to the bank, and get our basket, so we made a quick stop at K-Mart first to get a car seat. It’s not like we’re not going to need it in a few months. Aaron’s getting close to the max weight limit for the one he’s using right now. 1/10/09
As before, if you have your pages done, let me know and I'll link you.

Make a Statement!

This layout has been a challenge for me. I got the pictures on but the rest didn't come to me. I don't even really know where I was going with the layout. Total no-no for me. Then this morning it hit me. We are teaching our children to respect the Earth, after all it's the only one we've got. I saw these shirts at Target over the summer and had to get them for the boys. (Yes, the are made in the USA of organic cotton). Where things are made are a whole different story and maybe I'll do a layout of that someday. I'm still not thrilled with this layout, but at least it's done and out of my to finish pile.

I'm good right here

Remember yesterday when I posted that Aaron didn't like the cold water? He had a great time combing the beach for stuff and when he got tired, he sat on the towels and just chilled.

Supplies used: CTMH Serendipity, CTMH rubons, Colonial White Bigger brad.

My Daddy

I've been busy this morning trying to finish up some layouts that I started months ago and never finished. I'm notorious for that and LAST year I made a resolution not to do it anymore. As you see, that didn't work so well. Remember yesterday I mentioned that resolutions just aren't a good idea for me? This is from our vacation in September 08. We finished up our vacation by stopping at Carpenteria State Beach. Leo had a great time playing, (click here for a refresh) but Aaron didn't like the cold Pacific Ocean all that much. The entire time he was in the water, he clung to daddy. It was pretty sweet to feel the trust that daddy would keep him safe.

Inspired Blueprint Sketch 7

You probably thought I wasn't going to post today, right? One of my "things" (I don't want to call them Resolutions because that's asking for trouble) is to create and post every day. It's day 7 and I'm doing pretty good. Anyway, onto the page. This is another Inspired Blueprint sketch. I like this one because you can get a lot of pictures on one page and since I take A LOT of pictures, I can't possibly put only 1 or 2 on a page. Well, some times I do but only special pictures.

Here's my layout. The beautiful thing about Inspired Blueprints is they don't care if your layout is exactly like the sketch, as long as it's inspired by it, you're good.
On Jan 1, we went to the San Diego Car Show. We even took the kids (and both grandma's for help). Those of you who know my kids are probably thinking I'm nuts for taking those wild men in public, but they are their father's boys. They LOVED it. As long as you let them crawl around and drive the cars, they were just fine. Me, I didn't get quite the thrill as the boys, until I got in the Audi TT Roadster. Anyone have 40k they can spare?????

Tehachapi Club Card - Key to my Heart

Here is the card for my Tehachapi club. It's Originals, Lucky Three and while there was some inspiration from Nancy Brown on the faux dry embossing, the rest is mine. Can you believe that I actually came up with something on my own??? My husband couldn't, the stinker. I'm not sure that I like the striped paper under the sentiment but it was late last night and I didn't want to change it. I used the January Constant Campaign promotion, Key to my Heart. The Tulip circle in the middle of the "flower" is covered with liquid glass for some dimension. The flower is actually 6 of the heart stamps that I cut out and arranged to look like a flower. It's also pop dotted for some depth.

Here's a close up of the faux dry embossing. You stamp the image with White Daisy and then your other color, slightly offset. I think my offset was a little more than slightly, but it's still a nice effect.

Project 365 page 1

Now that things are semi back to normal, my husband is finally done with his vacation and at work today, I can post my Project 365 page. Since my original post about doing this, I decided to change the first page. The Gods were with me on this and Jan 1 was on a Thurs, so 3 pictures, 1 title block and 2 journaling were perfect for 1 pocket page. The right side of my journal area is still blank because I wanted to write a little something about what I'm doing and why and I haven't quite figured out what I want to say. Remember this is going to be my husband's Christmas gift. Here is the first page of my book. Sorry about the glare but taking the stuff out of the page protector kinda defeats the purpose of showing you what I'm doing, right?

A little about the pictures. Here's what my journaling says.
1. The Auto Show was in San Diego and we went on Jan 1st. It was such fun seeing the boys and Martel in all the cars.
2. Leo got a kid’s camera for Christmas and he went around taking pictures of everyone and everything (and nothing). It was so cute to see him take after mommy and take so many pictures. Jan 2, 2009
3. We came home from San Diego to some wicked fog. Just another day in the life of a Stallion Springs resident! Jan 3, 2009
After printing my journaling, I saw there was a lot of "white space" on my paper, so I just did a little random stamping to give it a little bit of umph.
If you have your first page completed and posted, let me know and I'll link you.

More Christmas layouts

These two layouts are from A Page 4 All Seasons, part of the Amber's Possibilities auto ship. I don't subscribe to that one, but if you're an auto ship member, you can get any of the other auto ship layouts. When I saw these 2 layouts, I knew that I had to have them! Since we didn't go see family for Christmas this year, our friends, Kim and Jon, invited us to their house for Christmas dinner. Kim bought some Christmas poppers that had these paper crowns and little toys in them. We had so much fun with the crowns, just being goofy. Jon's parents were there too and my boys love them, they're like surrogate grandparents, since their's live 4 hours away.

This is the second layout from the auto ship. We had a lot of fun trying to get the group shot. It was such a wonderful evening. Unfortunately, we had to cut it short because the weather took a nasty turn and we needed to get home while we still could.

My Acrylic Album - with pictures

For those of you interested, here's the My Acrylic Album with pictures. These were for my mom and mother in law for Christmas. They both have the address to my blog but don't come looking, but I didn't want to take a chance and spoil their surprise.

OK, it's not letting me add more pictures, so check back tomorrow!
